The FINANCIAL — Financial Manager, Marketing Manager, IT Manager, Economist and Lawyer are named the most prestigious job professions by key company HRs interviewed by The FINANCIAL.
“According to job interviews the most desirable job is in the field of marketing. In my opinion this is because marketing is a creative job and raises interest in job seekers. Finance is also becoming popular as most of the jobs are available at financial institutions,” said Ana Tikaradze, HR Manager at Bank Republic, Societe Generale Group.
“At present, the most popular job profession in Georgia could be considered finance and accounting, because these professions are highly requested at any kind of organization.
This field has one big advantage, that it can show visible results to a company’s managers about the situations held in organization as well as other profession like for example marketing and HR. This is governed by the fact that remuneration is higher than in other professions and this is conditioned by the high demand,” said Nino Kurtanidze, HR Specialist at Nikora.
As Nino Kiladze, HR Manager of Adress, says that business education is more developed in Georgia than in any other sphere.
“This results from Western standard business schools and also from the need of business professionals after transforming into a market economy. CSB, ESM and other schools are all offering qualified professionals to the labour market. These people are paid well and this results in increased demand for these professions,” she added.
As Ekaterine Lomidze, Human Resource Manager at Radisson BLU Iveria, declares, all professions in the hospitality field are quite popular and in demand.
“We are seeking all types of professionals in our field. However in the field of hospitability the majority of CVs are sent to the position of sales and marketing after which comes front office staff,” said Lomidze.
“The trend for the most popular professions has not changed in recent years. These three professions – financial manager, marketing manager and IT manager remain highly in demand.
However, I do think the need for narrower specialization is increasing. Professions like engineering will soon be in demand, but unfortunately the education basis is not enough to satisfy this demand,” said Kiladze, Adress.
According to the specialization of Credo the most popular position in the organization is Loan Officer, which is the driving force of their operations and financial performance.
The position of loans officer requires experience, formal and on-the-job trainings. This is not a profession which you can learn at university. Rather it is a mixture of personal skills, logical thinking, mathematical abilities, good communication skills and practice gained on the job.
“The fact that the most popular professions are Law and Economy is the response to the current events occurring within the country.
Understanding law and economic concepts is being developed and sophisticated. More and more firms are becoming engaged in utilizing the law’s services and hiring their own lawyers to work at the companies.
As for the economics, since the country has become attractive for foreign investors, capital flow has occurred which resulted in the increased number of new companies opening up on the Georgian market. In line with the trade development, demand for economy graduates has increased,” declared Kurtanidze, Nikora.
“We were recruiting in 2009 and will continue to recruit in 2010 at a steady rate. In 2010 we have already hired 602 employees and by the end of this year the figure will increase by almost 200 (thus the number of new staff hired in 2010 will reach 800). Most of the vacancies are in the front-office,” declared Sophie Balavadze, Corporate Communications and PR at Bank of Georgia.
