The FINANCIAL — On 17 December 2015, newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Georgia Ji Yanchi presented copies of his credentials to Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, according to MFA of Georgia.
During the bilateral meeting which followed the ceremony, Giorgi Kvirikashvili congratulated Ji Yanchi on his appointment as Ambassador to Georgia and wished him success in his future endeavours.
Discussions focused on the Georgia-China bilateral co-operation, which has significantly developed in the recent period towards numerous directions, inter alia, in the political, trade-economic, cultural, educational and other spheres. The successful co-operation within multilateral formats was also underlined.
The two sides discussed the main prospects for enhancement of bilateral co-operation in the frames of the New Silk Road project; focused on the importance of negotiations on the Georgia-China free trade; expressed their hope that the achievement of the Agreement on Free Trade would be possible in the nearest future; and underlined that the Agreement would promote greater enhancement of the trade and economic co-operation.
The Chinese Ambassador, in turn, expressed his readiness to facilitate the development and strengthening of multilateral relations between China and Georgia during his term of office in Georgia.
Ji Yanchi reaffirmed China’s unequivocal support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
