The FINANCIAL — Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Norway Børge Brende, on the sidelines of his official visit to Georgia, has visited the village of Khurvaleti adjacent to the occupation line, according to MFA Georgia.
In Khurvaleti, the Norwegian Foreign Minister familiarised himself with the heavy humanitarian situation resulting from the installation of barbed wire fences by the Russian occupation forces; the information was provided by the representative of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs. Børge Brende met local resident Zurab Valishvili and discussed the existing problems.
The Norwegian Foreign Minister reaffirmed Norway’s full support for Georgia’s territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders. “In 2008 Russia infringed Georgia’s territorial integrity and violated the international law that contradicts the UN Charter”, the Minister stated and added that the issue of moving the occupation line should be discussed at the Geneva International Talks.
Børge Brende, within a framework of his visit to Georgia, will take part in the Ambassadorial Meeting – 2015 and will address the heads of diplomatic representations of Georgia abroad.
