The FINANCIAL — The equity trading volume on the Spanish Stock Exchange in the first six months totalled €375.60 billion, down 22.5% from the same period in 2011.
The trading volume in June reached €62.50 billion, 11% down on the previous month and 14% down on the same month in 2011.
The number of trades in the first six months came in at 24.7 million, up 5.9% from the same period in 2011. The number of trades in June reached 4.13 million, up 18% from the same period last year.
As for the ETF segment, the trading volume in the first six months came in at €1.05 billion, down 36% year on year. The trading volume in this segment in June came in at €229 million, up 2.3% from the previous month and up 27.7% from June 2011.
The number of trades in ETFs in the first six months was 27,853, up 26.8% year on year. The number of trades in June reached 6,815, up 138% year on year.
According to Bolsa de Madrid, in the first six months trading on BME’s Derivatives Market came in at 36.86 million contracts, up 1.1% from the same period last year. In June the trading volume reached 8.54 million contracts, down 6.6% on the previous year and up 57% from a month earlier.
There was a pick-up in trading in June in Futures on Indices, at 837,884 contracts (+13%) and Index Options, at 374,678 contracts (+93.5%) as well as on Options on Stocks, at 4.20 million contracts in June (+64.7%).
The volume of warrants and certificates admitted to trading in 2012 totaled 3,724.
Trading on the Warrants and Certificates market in the first six months totalled €436 million, down 43% from the same period in 2011. The trading volume on this market in June came in at €64.9 million, down 5% from May 2012 and down 32% year on year.
The number of trades in the first six months in this market totaled 112,275, down 23% year on year. The number of trades in June reached 17,541, down 4.1% from the previous month and down 17% from June 2011.
Trading on BME’s Corporate Debt market in the first six months reached €1.25 trillion, down 58.7% from the same period last year. Trading In June reached €277.71 billion, down 38.6% year on year, but up 97% from a month earlier.
New issues in the first six months reached €212.54 billion, up 52.8 year on year. In June, new admissions totaled €48.74 billion, more than a four-fold increase on the trading volume for June 2011 (+323.7%).
The outstanding balance at the end of June came in at €899.46 billion, up 5.9% year on year.
