The FINANCIAL — In July trading in Equities on the Spanish Stock market amounted to €98.31 bn, which represents a 3% rise year on year. The trading volume to the end of July was €626.24 bn, up 21.2% on the same period last year.
The number of trades in the first seven months totalled 24 million, up 34% year on year. In July the number of trades came in at 3.1 million, up 11% from the same period the previous year.
The trading volume in the ETF segment to the end of July was up 147% on the same month of 2009, at €4.67 bn. The trading volume in July was €286 million, down 23% from the same period a year earlier.
"The number of trades in the ETF segment to the end of July came in at 44,898, up 66% from the same month in 2009. In July the number of trades reached 4,555, down 12% year on year," Spanish Stock market reports.
Futures and Options
In July, the trading volume on BME’s Derivatives Market came in at 4.7 million contracts while the trading volume to the end of July totalled 39 million contracts.
Trading in equity options in July came in at 2.6 million contracts, up 12% from the same period a year earlier while trading in this product for the seven first months of the year totalled 21.3 million contracts, up 16.4% from the same period in 2009.
In July trading in IBEX 35 Futures, at 504,993 contracts, increased 4.4% from the same period in 2009.
Warrants and Certificates
The volume of warrants admitted to trading between January and June was 4,832.
The trading volume in July on the warrants and certificates market came in at €136 million, down 18.2% from the same month the previous year. The number of trades was 26,190, down 13.5% year on year.
Corporate Debt
Corporate Debt trading in July decreased by 16.1% from the previous year to €242.58 bn.
New issues in July came in at €26.61 bn, down 41.3% year on year, still in line with the low activity levels seen on the international corporate debt markets. However, it is worth mentioning that July has reported the highest trading volume so far this year. The outstanding balance reached €846.56 bn, down 4.9% year on year.
In July trading on BME’s Public Debt electronic trading platorm reached €25.48 bn, up 167.6% year on year, while in the first seven months of the year it reached 88.8%
