The FINANCIAL — Within the framework of the meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers, Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with his Swedish counterpart, Foreign Minister Margot Wallström. Mikheil Janelidze and Margot Wallström spoke about the partner relations and successful co-operation between Sweden and Georgia.
The sides highlighted the further support of Sweden as the initiator of Eastern Partnership for Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Margot Wallström reaffirmed Sweden’s firm support for Georgia’s aspirations. According to her, Georgia has set an example in terms of implementing the reforms on the European agenda and the work the country has done in the process of visa liberalization process, which deserves to be completed successfully and in due time. According to Margot Wallström, Sweden will spare no effort to ensure that Eastern Partnership remains among the priorities of the EU policy.
The Ministers also discussed issues relating to bilateral co-operation. Mikheil Janelidze thanked Margot Wallström for Sweden’s active support for Georgia’s democratic development and reforms in various areas. Special mention was made of SIDA’s contribution to Georgia. The two Ministers spoke about the possibilities of further developing trade and economic relations, according to MFA of Georgia.
The Georgian Foreign Minister welcomed the establishment of Georgian-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, which will further contribute to co-operation between the two countries and will encourage Swedish businessmen to take a close interest in Georgia’s business opportunities.
The two ministers reaffirmed their readiness to further contribute to co-operation in various areas, including through the exchange of high-level visits.
