The FINANCIAL — Georgian Vice Premier, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze met with President of the UN General Assembly Miroslav Lajčák, on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.
Mikheil Janelidze congratulated Miroslav Lajčák on his appointment to the position of President of the UN General Assembly. The Vice Premier reaffirmed Georgia’s active involvement in the implementation of Goal 16 of Sustainable Development. Mikheil Janelidze pledged Georgia’s full support for the UN reforms designed to overcome the challenges facing the world, according to MFA of Georgia.
Mikheil Janelidze updated the President of the UN General Assembly on the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories and thanked him his support for Georgia in the UN format. Miroslav Lajčák positively appraised the Georgian Government’s peace policy and steps taken towards confidence building between the war-torn communities.
