The FINANCIAL — Thomson Reuters on April 18 announced the release of the latest iPhone application from Micromedex, giving clinicians on-the-go access to the industry’s most trusted clinical reference information for monitoring drug interactions.
With Micromedex Drug Interactions, clinicians can check up to 50 patient medications simultaneously for potentially harmful interactions. Severity ratings are assigned to each interaction ranging from contraindicated to minor. Additionally, users can see why the drugs in question interact, how the results of those interactions will present in the patient, and recommendations for monitoring patient outcomes, according to the Thomson Reuters.
The application is the newest addition to the Micromedex series of mobile solutions, all designed to provide clinicians with the data they need at the moment they need it to make informed treatment decisions with confidence. Micromedex Drug Interactions joins the highly successful Micromedex Drug Information application, which is currently available free-of-charge and has had more than 250,000 downloads to-date.
Micromedex Drug Interactions is available for $49.99 per year in the United States and Canada. Current Micromedex customers can access Drug Interactions for free with the use of an institutional customer password.
“As the use of mobile devices increase in clinical settings it becomes increasingly important for our applications to be accessible that way,” said Thomas Hegelund, executive vice president at Thomson Reuters. “With Micromedex Drug Interactions and Drug Information, clinicians have easy mobile access to the trusted content and fast answers they need to make informed clinical decisions.”
