The FINANCIAL — According to Civil Georgia, Tbilisi. Governors of three regions out of nine have been replaced so far, Davit Tkeshelashvili, the State Minister for Regional Issues, said on February 4.
Tsezar Chocheli, a lawmaker from the ruling party and a businessman with shares into Natakhtari beer and soft drink producer company, has replace Vasil Maglaperidze on the post of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti governor.
Mikheil Svimonishvili in Guria was replaced by Ramaz Nikoleishvili, who served as chief of the investigative unit at the Revenue Service in Tbilisi.
Shida Kartli governor, Vladimer Gegelashvili, was replaced by Lado Vardzelashvili, who was deputy minister for culture and sport.
Davit Tkeshelashvili said on February 2 that half of the current provincial governors would be changed in a major reshuffle. Only these three replacement, however, have been announced so far.
Meanwhile, the Georgian media reported on February 4 that Giorgi Gabashvili, ex-minister for culture and sport, would be appointed as deputy head of the President’s administration, Zurab Adeishvili. According to the same report, he will hold this position temporarily, before the parliamentary elections this spring as Gabashvili is slated to be placed in the ruling National Movement’s party-list. Media sources also reported on February 4 that Davit Chantladze, ex-minister for environmental protection, will become another deputy to Zurab Adeishvili.
