The FINANCIAL — Experts believe that at the upcoming presidential election Serhiy Tigipko may seize votes from Party of Regions leader Victor Yanukovych and Front of Changes leader Arseniy Yatseniuk.
In particular, this was the opinion expressed by political scientists within frames of a poll carried out by the Kyiv Gorshenin Institute.
Gorshenin Institute director Kost Bondarenko believes that both S.Tigipko and A.Yatseniuk are representatives of a new political culture. The political scientist believes that should S.Tigipko return and propose his candidacy for the post of Ukrainian President, this may introduce serious corrections into the scheme of political forces. “The society is interested in a struggle of new forces at present. S.Tigipko, most probably, may expect for the electoral support from the east and south of Ukraine, A.Yatseniuk – from the west. However, S.Tigipko may take votes of those in the orange camp who are directed towards a reformist concept, and, by doing so, he may seriously undermine the electoral basis of Victor Yanukovych”, K.Bondarenko noted.
Oleksiy Haran, scientific director of the Political Analytics School at the Kyiv Mohyla Academy, believes that both S.Tigipko and A.Yatseniuk may expect for votes of electors, who are disappointed with current politicians. In the opinion of the political scientist, S.Tigipko ,may expect for a part of the white-and-blue electorate (Victor Yanukovych), and A.Yatseniuk – for the orange electorate (Victor Yushchenko and Yulia Tymoshenko).
Taras Berezovets, head of Polittech PR-group, stresses that neither S.Tigipko, nor A.Yatseniuk, have political teams, as of today. “I think, S.Tigipko’s team will include people mostly from the Labor Ukraine Party, and people from his surrounding when he worked in the central bank and the Cabinet of Ministers. A.Yatseniuk avoids mentioning concrete surnames now because he must not elucidate the people who gathered around him at present – for instance, Dmytro Firtash, Valeriy Khoroshkovskiy, Vitaliy Hayduk, Serhiy Taruta…”, the political scientist said. At the same time, T.Berezovets does not believe that S.Tigipko and A.Yatseniuk will enter the second round of the presidential election.
Andriy Yermolayev, head of ‘Sophia’ Center for Social Studies, believes that the society is disappointed with “idols of the orange myth”, and there is a demand for new faces.
