Toyota has restarted the output of Prius and two Lexus HS250h and CT200h hybrids at its two key car factories in the Aichi and Fukuoka prefectures, the paper said.
Toyota has not yet decided on output resumption at its other factories as the Japanese auto giant cannot restart the production of some models over interruptions in the supplies of auto parts and components whose output has been affected by the quake and the tsunami on March 11.
Renault-Nissan President Carlos Ghosn has said that over 40 auto parts makers in Japan have been affected by the natural disaster. Production at some enterprises cannot be restarted over the shortage of electricity after the earthquake and tsunami.
Experts believe the resumption of auto parts output may take months and require billions of euros. Japanese carmakers have failed to produce about 356,000 vehicles due to the disaster.
