The FINANCIAL — President Trump’s approval number remains low, now at 35%. In fact, the total number of those who strongly disapprove (43%) of the president is higher than his total approval number (35%).
Despite this, more than two thirds of Republicans support Trump (77%). Although his overall approval number has dropped, he has improved on some specific attributes. Since last week, Trump’s approval on taxation (38%), international trade (41%), the US economy (44%), and dealing with ISIS/ISIL (47%) have risen. Alternatively, Trump continues to struggle on the environment (33%) and the way he treats people like me (35%), according to Ipsos.
Although Senate Republicans have delayed voting on their health plan, healthcare reform remains a controversial point for many Americans. Only 35% approve of Donald Trump’s handling of the issue, and 22% of Americans say it’s the most important issue facing the US today. It is distantly followed by the economy generally (13%) and terrorism (13%). Among Democrats, nearly a third list healthcare as the most important problem, with almost one fifth of Independents prioritising it.
