The FINANCIAL — Out of 789,072 vehicles produced in Turkey between January and November of this year, 72 percent were exported, for a total of 568,437 vehicles leaving Turkey’s borders, a 36 percent decrease in exports compared to the same period of last year.
According to data released by the Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (OSD), like many sectors, the exports of the automotive sector have taken a significant hit. While 883,378 vehicles were exported in the 11-month period from January to November of last year, this number decreased to 568,437 in the same period of 2009. Oyak Renault produced 249,168 vehicles during this period and became the largest exporter of vehicles, with 198,995 items exported. Tofaş took second place with 148,399 vehicles, and Ford Otosan third, with 111,886 vehicles.
