The FINANCIAL — ASHKHABAD. The president of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, will pay an official two-day visit to Qatar beginning on October 11, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said, according to RIA Novosti.
Berdymukhamedov received an official invitation for the visit from Amir of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in February this year and it will be the first visit of the Turkmen leader to this country.
The leaders of the oil and gas rich countries are expected to discuss a wide range of bilateral issues, but primarily cooperation in fuel and energy sector, the ministry said.
Turkmenistan and Qatar established diplomatic relations after signing a joint communique in New York on November 22, 1996.
