The FINANCIAL — According to RIA Novosti, Brazilian search teams have found two male bodies from the Air France plane that crashed in the Atlantic last week, and are continuing to search a large area of the ocean.
A briefcase containing a ticket for flight 447 and debris from the plane, which crashed with 228 on board on June 1, were also found, the Brazilian Air Force said.
"As well as the bodies there are various remains of the aircraft… Plane seats, part of the wing and various other items were localized," Brazilian Air Force spokesman Lt. Colonel Henry Munhoz told reporters.
The flight recorders from the Airbus 330 have yet to be found. However, French investigators have said a possible cause of the crash was faulty airspeed instruments. The sensors may have malfunctioned when the plane flew into a storm.
Airbus, the plane's manufacturer, had earlier recommended that the plane's speed and altitude measurers be changed.
The passengers on board the airliner included 61 French nationals, 58 Brazilians, 26 Germans, and citizens from 33 other countries. Eight children were on the plane.
