Two LBS faculty named ‘best 40 under 40’

The FINANCIAL — Business school news site Poets&Quants (P&Q) has named Daniel Effron, Associate Professor of Organisational Behaviour, and Ahmed Tahoun, Assistant Professor of Accounting, as ‘40 Best Business Professors Under 40’.

The London Business School (LBS) academics were nominated by students and alumni to make the list.

Now in its eighth year, the ranking honours international faculty from global business schools such as IESE (Spain), Wharton (US) and Nanyang (China).

The list looks at the “most inspiring young professors at the best business schools in the world”, according to P&Q, including “up-and-coming business school professors passionate about using business as a force for good.”

Dr Effron studies the psychology of ethics and morality. The academic, who was previously awarded the Best Teacher Award for MBAs at LBS in 2015, said: “I’m honoured to have been selected. It’s been a pleasure hearing from former students who’ve seen the list, and who tell me they’re applying key principles from my courses in their professional lives.”

Students credit Dr Effron’s ability to blend rigour with relatability. “Daniel is an outstanding educator,” reported one MBA. “He has a deep technical knowledge of his subject and a wonderful ability to read and manage the ebb and flow of the class conversation.”

Dr Tahoun investigates the economic consequences of transparency and the politics of financial markets. He has been the recipient of four consecutive awards from the prestigious Institute of New Economic Thinking, according to LBS.

“I’m excited and speechless to be named one of the ‘best 40 under 40’,” said Dr Tahoun. “It’s a huge responsibility to get such an award. I hope I won’t let my students down.”

One student nominator called Dr Tahoun “outstanding, passionate and personal” as well as “engaged and caring” and “exceptionally vibrant and a breath of fresh air.”

“I have never enjoyed an accounting class as much,” noted another. “Since running my own business, I’ve come to understand the value of many things taught so passionately by the professor. One of my best professors ever.”
