The FINANCIAL — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce on June 17 elected Michael L. Ducker, president and CEO of FedEx Freight, as chairman of its Board of Directors. Ducker, a member of the board since 2006, will serve a one-year term as chairman.
“Mike has been a tremendous asset to our board and our International Policy Committee,” said Thomas J. Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber. “But we’ve got more work for him to do. We know that he will pour as much energy, passion, and hard work into advancing the Chamber’s policy priorities as he has to advancing the ball on global trade for years.”
Ducker, who has been with FedEx for more than 40 years, provides strategic direction for the company’s less-than-truckload (LTL) companies across North America, and for FedEx Custom Critical, a leading expedited freight carrier, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
As chairman, Ducker plans to use this platform to push for real progress on a range of issues that are important to the success of all U.S. businesses, including stronger trade, greater infrastructure investment, and domestic energy expansion. He also plans to focus on policies that create jobs and improve U.S. business productivity and innovation.
“Since joining the Chamber’s board of directors, I have truly enjoyed working with and learning from a great succession of dedicated chairpersons, and I am honored by this opportunity,” said Ducker. “I look forward to working with the Chamber to champion our nation’s businesses large and small, and I am confident that together we can influence critical policy decisions that will help build a prosperous future in the years and decades ahead.”
He previously served FedEx as the president of international business, COO of FedEx Express, and president of FedEx Express Asia Pacific. In addition, Ducker led FedEx’s Southeast Asian, Middle Eastern, and Southern European regions.
Ducker previously served on the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations for the Obama administration, as well as chairman of the International Policy Committee for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves on the executive committee of the American Trucking Associations and is a board member of the Coalition of Services Industries; the U.S.-China Business Council; the American Transportation Research Institute; The Salvation Army; Amway Corporation; and International Flavors and Fragrances.
