The FINANCIAL — As of November 5, 2010, all categories of agricultural enterprises in Ukraine sowed winter grains throughout the areas of 8.1 mln ha, or 95% from the planned areas, or up 78 thsd ha compared to the previous year index.
According to the press-cutting service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, as of the reporting date, agricultural enterprises of Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Vinnytsia, Kiev, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi oblasts completed the sowing campaign of the forecasted areas of winter crops sowing areas.
Agricultural enterprises of the steppe zone still continue the sowing campaign of winter grains, in particular, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Odessa, Zaporizhia, Nikholaev and Kherson oblasts.
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, agrarians sowed winter wheat throughout the areas of 6.6 mln ha, which totaled 98% from the forecast, up 261 thsd ha compared to the previous year level, winter rye – 322 thsd ha (93%, or up 17 thsd ha), winter barley – 1.16 mln ha (84%, or down 193 thsd ha compared to the previous year level).
As a reminder, agrarians of Ukraine plan to sow winter grains for the harvest-2011 throughout the areas of 8.3 mln ha. The reporting sowing areas exceed the average annual indices during recent six years by 10-12%.
Also, the Ministry marked that the structure of the grain sowing areas for the harvest-2011 will face corrections depending on the real areas of the winter grains sowings, and the conditions of wintering, at the expense of optimization of spring grain sowing areas, in particular, enlargement of the sowing areas, especially, maize and late groats crops sowing areas.
