Ukraine: Covenant of Mayors starts new project in Zhovkva

The FINANCIAL — A new EU-funded project under the Covenant of Mayors — Demonstration Projects (CoM-DeP) programme has begun reconstruction works at a kindergarten in the city of Zhovkva.

The complex renovation of the pre-school is part of the Covenant’s fulfilment of its commitments undertaken as part of the Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP).

The roof and windows of the kindergarten have already been replaced through the project. The heating system, power supply and ventilation will also be replaced and a heated tile floor installed, while the kindergarten’s internal sanitation system will be repaired, according to EU Neighbours East Info.

The reconstruction of the kindergarten is part of the project “Implementation of the first part of the modernisation of the municipal boiler plant of Zhovkva and the district heated with it”, which has a total budget of UAH 12.299 million.

The CoM-DeP programme supports 22 signatories of the Covenant of Mayors with the implementation of projects included in their SEAPs.

The support team of the CoM-DeP provides grants to 19 selected projects, as well as technical, procedural and communication assistance.
