The FINANCIAL — Ukraine is designed for comprehensive deepening of cooperation with Tunisia, reads a statement made by the presidential press service.
President Viktor Yanukovych of Ukraine congratulated Tunisia's interim president Fouad Mebazaa on occasion of the Independence Day of his country.
"Expressing hope for further development of amicable relations between our states I would like to assure you of Ukraine's designation for comprehensive deepening and widening of cooperation with the Tunisian Republic and exhaustive use of the existing potential for bilateral cooperation," the congratulation reads.
Yanukovych wishes Mebazaa strong health and success on the way of implementation of democratic transformation; and wishes the friendly Tunisian people stability, peace, accord and prosperity.
Mebazaa was Speaker of the Tunisian Parliament since 1997 and on January 15, 2011, under the Constitution of Tunisia, he became acting president since resignation of the head of state Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, mass protest actions broke in Tunisia in mid-December 2010, as a result Ben Ali fled the country on January 14, and Prime Minister Mohamed Ghannouchi stepped down on February 27.
