The FINANCIAL — As of the end of 2008/09 MY, grain ending stocks in Ukraine will total 6.9 mln tons, an increase of 27% compared to the same date of 2008, declared Sergey Stoyanov, the general director of Ukrainian agrarian confederation.
The index does not include grains, stocked in households, which the official statistics does not consider, but supposes preschedule receiving of new crop grains on the market (till July 1, 2009) at the volumes of 1 mln tons (wheat and barley).
At the same time, the carry-over stocks of wheat will total 3.5 mln tons (up 34% compared to 2008), maize – 1 mln ton, barley – 1.4 mln tons.
The balances takes into account grain exports from Ukraine from May 1 till the end of the marketing year at the volumes of 2.9 mln tons, including 1.5 mln tons of wheat, 0.9 mln tons of maize, 0.4 mln tons of barley.
Thus, in the current marketing year, Ukraine will export nearly 24 mln tons of grains, and 3.5 mln tons of oilseeds. To date, oilseed export operations have almost stopped, except of sunflower exports.
