The FINANCIAL — According to analysts of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation, in 2010/11 MY, Ukraine will export 18.5 mln tonnes of grains, a decrease of 15% compared to 2009/10 MY.
According to Sergey Stoyanov, the General Director of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation, the growth of grain prices will completely compensate the possible fall of grain production volumes. He mentioned that grain prices started growing on the world markets from the end of June 2010, which was absolutely nontypically for preharvesting time on the Northern hemisphere, and continued growing in July, supported by announcements about weather influence on the harvest from all over the world, especially due to droughts in Russia.
S.Stoyanov stated that as of the present date, the start of export season in Ukraine is falling down. According to the rates of grain export shipment during 15 days of July, in June grain export volumes from Ukraine will hardly total over 500 thsd tonnes, a decrease of over 3 times compared to the same period of the last year (1700 thsd tonnes).
While talking about grains quality, S.Stoyanov noticed that protein washing out from corn under the influence of heavy precipitations will positively show-up on barley qualitative parameters as the raw material for brewing processes. In the current year, year Ukraine will have the extensive resources of high-quality brewing barley.
