The FINANCIAL — According to APK-Inform analysts, the domestic consumption of grains and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2015/16 MY will total nearly 28.1 mln tonnes, a decrease of 4% compared with the same period of 2014/15 MY (29.2 mln tonnes). At the same time, there is expected some reduction of food consumption to 5 mln tonnes, against 5.2 mln tonnes in the previous season (down 4%), and feed consumption – to 16.6 mln tonnes, as opposed to 17.3 mln tonnes (down 4%).
The expected decline of the general grain harvest in 2015 to 56.9 mln tonnes, as opposed to the record index of 63.9 mln tonnes in 2014 (down 11%), and reduction of the population of the country, and decreasing of the cattle and poultry livestock, became the major reasons for declining of the domestic consumption of grains in Ukraine, according to APK Inform.
In terms of the reduction of domestic consumption, in the new season Ukraine will keep rather high level of grain export potential, which APK-Inform analysts estimated at 30.1 mln tonnes. At the same time, the index reduced by 14% compared with the export volumes, expected in 2014/15 MY – 34.8 mln tonnes.
