The FINANCIAL — The difficult financial and economic situation in Ukraine, and the weather factor, provided its significant impact on the qualitative indicators of wheat in the current season, declared Andrew Kupchenko, grain market analyst at APK-Inform Agency, on September 24 during his report at the international conference “Flour & Groats: raw materials, market, technologies”.
According to the expert, despite increasing of the grain production in the country compared with the previous season (25.1 mln tonnes in 2015, against 23.3 mln tonnes in 2014), the situation with wheat qualitative indices even worsened. And in the current season, the ratio of milling and feed wheat production reaches 40: 60%.
Also, he said that in the current year, in the structure of milling wheat production in Ukraine (10 mln tonnes), only 50% of the volumes will have the required milling quality. But last season, the index reached 6 mln tonnes, according to APK-Inform.
The speaker called the difficult weather conditions during the grain harvesting campaign, savings on crop protection agents, and slow-scale sales by agrarians, as the main reasons for the current situation development, which is fraught with the losses of the grain qualitative indices.
At the same time, there is observed the positive trend in the flour exports from Ukraine, which require the high qualitative indices of the raw materials to provide the competitive advantages, summed up A.Kupchenko.
