The FINANCIAL — In January 2016, the sea terminal Nika-Tera (Mykolaiv, part of Group DF) shipped 107.9 thsd tonnes of grain cargoes, which was nearly 61% of the general cargo turnover (176.7 thsd tonnes), declared the press-service of the company on February 16. Also, the terminal shipped 55.4 thsd tonnes of mineral fertilizers (31.4%).
According to the Chairman of Nika-Tera specialized sea port, Oleksandr Gaidu, in January the terminal increased grain shipment by 44% compared with the same month last year, due to the well-timed accumulation of commodities at the end of 2015. Grain shipped volumes could have been much larger, if the Government had not changed the rules in the agro-industrial complex. Cancellation of preferential tax treatment for agricultural producers caused the deficit of transactions between grain holders and exporters. Agrarians want to compensate their losses caused by cancellation of the tax allowances, by increasing the production costs. In turn, many companies-exporters refused to purchase grains at the new prices.
