The FINANCIAL — From the beginning of 2009/10 MY, and as of the end of February 2010, Ukraine exported 16.3 mln tonnes of grains, an increase of 2.5% compared to the same period of the previous marketing year, declared Anatoliy Razgon, the director of the department of development of the agrarian market of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.
In particular, from the beginning of the present MY, wheat exports from the country totaled 7.6 mln tonnes, barley exports – 4.43 mln tonnes, maize – 4 mln tonnes.
As a reminder, from the beginning of the current MY, and as of the beginning of February 2010, grain exports from Ukraine totaled nearly 16 mln tonnes.
According to preliminary data of the State Committee of Statistics of Ukraine, in 2009, Ukraine produced 46 mln tonnes of grains and leguminous plants in clean weight, down 13.7% compared to 2008 results.
Previously, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine forecasted the index of grain exports from the country in 2009/10 MY at the level of nearly 20 mln tonnes as opposed to 25.2 mln tonnes in 2008/09 MY.
