The FINANCIAL — Ukraine is intending to engage the U.S. companies Chevron Corporation, Exxon Mobil Corporation, and Texaco Inc in developing the Black Sea shelf.
Fuel and Energy Minister Yurii Boiko announced this during the Shuster Live political talk show on the Ukraina TV channel on June 11.
"We have drawn up a program and we engage American Exxon Mobil, Chevron, and Texaco because they have necessary experience in work on large depths. We have taken as the basis the experience of Azerbaijan and Turkey and agreed with Americans that we will create a joint venture, an international consortium. Negotiations are underway. Of course, there is no final decision so far, but we have received proposals," said the minister.
According to him, the capacity of gas fields on the shelf of the Black Sea is estimated at 3,300 billion cubic meters.
Exxon Mobil, Chevron, and Texaco are largest energy corporations in the world.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Ukraine represented by the Cabinet of Ministers and Vanco Prykerchenska (British Virgin Islands) are in talks to conclude an amicable agreement following the previous government's breaking a PSA on the Prykerchenskyi section of the Black Sea.
