The FINANCIAL — The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has developed a special programme to help consumers in Ukraine calculate and improve their energy efficiency. Called IQ energy, the programme is designed to demonstrate to the country’s inhabitants the financial benefits of rational energy utilisation, take charge of their own energy efficiency and learn about implementing it in daily life.
According to the EBRD, this new tool is very timely for Ukraine that has been topping the list of most energy wasteful countries in Europe. While increasing their awareness, the programme users will also be able to learn how to increase comfort while reducing the energy consumption, which types of equipment and materials available in the Ukrainian market offer the highest technological standards of energy efficiency.
The IQ energy programme web-site is  available in English, Russian and Ukrainian. It contains recommendations on how to calculate and improve energy efficiency of a household, reduce energy waste. The web-site also informs about alternative energy sources that could be used by various consumers.Â
Supported by the European Union, the IQ energy programme was designed by the EBRD, financed by Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership Fund (E5P) and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
