The FINANCIAL — Due to the substantial reduction of the rates of winter crops planting campaign, and the possible falling of the future planted areas, Ukraine may impose some limitations on the export of grains in 2013/14 MY, in order to increase the carry-over stocks, declared Leonid Kozachenko, President of Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation, on September 27.
Due to the current adverse weather conditions Ukraine may not have time to plant winter crops throughout nearly 3 mln ha (including nearly 2 mln ha of wheat and 1 mln ha of other crops) from the planned 8.2 mln ha, according to the expert.
At the same time, L.Kozachenko noted that even if the rain stops in the nearest future, it will be too late to plant winter crops, because they will badly pass through wintering, and the qualitative indices will be poor, according to APK-Inform Information Agency.
The decision to limit the grain exports from Ukraine will be taken within frames of the Memorandum signed by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food and participants of the grain market, added Vladimir Klimenko, President of Ukrainian Grain Association.
