The FINANCIAL — The National Defence University of Ukraine has applied for the status of associate network partner from the European Security and Defence College (ESDC).
According to the EU Delegation to Ukraine, every year, the National Defence University of Ukraine hosts a ‘European week’, which includes training on the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy in the format of a conference, an orientation course and an alumni seminar. In 2017, around 600 people from EU Member States, EU institutions and Eastern Partner countries attended events as part of European week.
Since 2013, the ESDC has provided tailor-made education and training events in Kyiv, most of which have been hosted by the National Defence University of Ukraine.
“It was therefore no surprise that the university applied for associate network partner status,” said the EU Delegation in its press release. “This can be given to partner institutes from third states or third organisations which want to contribute to the ESDC’s academic programme.”
In order to be accepted, partner institutes such as the National Defence University of Ukraine have to include a clear EU perspective in the training offer and twin their projects with at least one ESDC network partner from an EU Member State.
The final decision will be taken in September by the Steering Committee, which comprises representatives from the 28 EU Member States, according to the EU Neighbours portal.
