The FINANCIAL — As of May 8, Ukrainian agrarians planted spring grains and pulses throughout the areas of 5.5 mln ha, or 78% of the plan, as opposed to 6.7 mln ha on the same date last year, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
In particular, Ukrainian agrarians planted corn for grain throughout 3.2 mln ha (72%), according to APK-Inform.
At the same time, Ukraine started planting buckwheat, millet and rice. As of the reporting date, the planted areas of buckwheat reached 27 thsd ha (23%), millet – 24 thsd ha (25%), and rice – 9 thsd ha (75%).
Also, agrarians planted sunflower seed throughout 3.1 mln ha, or 68% of the forecast, and soybeans – 1.1 mln ha (57%).
The condition of winter crops areas was estimated as good and satisfactory.
