The FINANCIAL — Leonid Kozachenko, the President of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation, announced that Ukraine should input grain storage capacities for 0.5 mln tonnes annually
In order to be in time with the grain production increase, the country should input the capacities for about 0.5 mln tones annually. Today Ukraine has grain storages for long-term grain keeping, with the general capacity of nearly 30 mln tonnes. If agrarians of the country harvest 40 mln tonnes of grains, then they will have no any free storage capacity for the remained 10 mln tonnes, but at the same time, Ukraine sells the products at the beginning of the harvesting campaign very actively, and barely has sufficient volumes of existing capacities. The President of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation declared that if Ukraine inputs the new elevator capacities annually, the country will have to increase the additional capacities for 5 mln tonnes for grain storage, in order to reach the required storing volumes.
L.Kozachenko noticed that the forecast of grain exports of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine within the range of 22-24 mln tonnes is theoretically rather real.
According to him, the carry-over stocks total 3-4 mln tonnes of grains. Ukraine will harvest about 40-45 mln tonnes. Taking into account, the domestic level of consumption of nearly 25-26 mln tonnes per year, these forecasts are theoretically justified.
