The FINANCIAL — According to forecasts of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, in 2015 the general production of winter grains in Ukraine will reach 25-27 mln tonnes, forecasted Tatyana Adamenko, Head of Agrometeorology department of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, during her report “Agro-climatic conditions – key factor in the harvest formation”, within the conference “Grain Forum & Maritime Days -2015” on May 28.
According to her, in the current year the yield of winter wheat in Ukraine will total 3.6 t/ha, winter rye – 2.4 t/ha, and winter barley – 2.8 t/ha.
Also, T.Adamenko informed that as of May 25, 7.6% of winter crops areas were in excellent condition, 74.5% of the areas – in good condition, and 17.8% of the areas – in satisfactory condition.
According to the expert, the reporting situation was mainly caused by the weather conditions, which were characteristic for the autumn and winter of 2014-2015. In particular, there was observed a lack of precipitations in the autumn. Also, the planting terms for winter crops somewhat lagged behind the average annual indices. But due to the absence of winter risks, winter crops vegetation processes started somewhat earlier than usual, said the expert.
