The FINANCIAL — Ukraine expects for provision of financial and technical assistance from the European Union for implementation of the Association Agreement, and hopes that it would render assistance in reforming of the agricultural sector, declared Oleksiy Pavlenko, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, during the meeting with Phil Hogan, European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, on September 18.
“We are going to gradually increase the export of agricultural products to the EU, thus we maximize the advantages of the autonomous trade preferences granted to us, in particular, through the full use of quotas,” – said O.Pavlenko
According to the announcement, the European Commission provides assistance to Ukraine within frames of the Special Support Group for Ukraine under the European Commission (Péter Balázs Group), including harmonization of the Ukrainian legislation to the EU standards, and creation of the Unified Comprehensive Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development in Ukraine for 2015-2020 period.
“I should note that the Ukrainian side has developed a number of priority laws to ensure the quality of food products and to harmonize the legislation of Ukraine with the European Union requirements. These draft laws were submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and some of them have already been adopted and signed by the President of Ukraine,” – the Minister added.
In view of granting the autonomous trade preferences to Ukraine, the priority is the early adoption of all laws in the sphere of sanitary and phytosanitary control, allowing the full usage of tariff quotas and the free trade regime between Ukraine and the EU.
