The FINANCIAL — Ukraine may significantly increase the export volumes of soybeans to the European Union countries in terms of formation of the safe and secure channels for the oilseed production and selling, declared the association Danube Soya on April 21.
According to the announcement, the Ukrainian production of soybeans almost doubles the indices of the entire Danube region. In 2014, the oilseed planted areas reached 1.8 mln ha. In 2015, the planned areas will reach the level of 2 mln ha.
Also, it was reported that the total demand for non genetically modified soybeans in Western Europe is nearly 5 mln tonnes per year (15% of its total demand for all soybeans). But European producers cover only one third of the total demand for non-GM soybeans (1.5-2 mln tonnes). According to forecasts of the association, in the following 10 years the demand for non-genetically modified oilseed will continue growing.
