The FINANCIAL — According to the State Statistics Service, in 2014 Ukraine produced 349.7 thsd tonnes of groats products, a decrease of 5% compared with the index i n2013 (367.1 thsd tonnes), declared the Director of the Association “Millers of Ukraine”, Head of Business Projects Division of APK-Inform Agency, Rodion Rybchinskiy on September 24 during his speech at the conference “Flour & Groats: raw materials, market, technologies”.
At the same time, he noted that in 2014, buckwheat, corn, wheat, peas and barley groats were the five major types of groats in Ukraine, which general share covered nearly 78% of the commodity production.
But the production volumes of rice groats significantly reduced, because in 2014 the index reached 23.5 thsd tonnes, against 49.8 thsd tonnes in 2013, added R.Rybchinskiy.
The speaker called the decline of demand level in terms of the reducing population and its purchasing power, as well as decreasing of certain grain crops production in Ukraine, as the main reasons for the reporting fall of production.
Also, the expert noted the systematic declining of groats export supplies from Ukraine. Thus, in 2012/13 MY Ukraine exported 101.8 thsd tonnes of groats, but in 2013/14 MY the index fell to 92.8 thsd tonnes, and in 2014/15 MY – to 59.5 thsd tonnes.
