The FINANCIAL — The state postal communications enterprise Ukrposhta has moved forward with an initiative of 20-percent rise in the rates for universal postal services from January 1, 2011, company director Yevhen Zayats has told during a call-in show by the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda In Ukraine.
In his words, for the last time the enterprise raised tariffs in January 2009 and by the moment an economic necessity to revise them has emerged.
The increase will touch Ukrposhta's traditional services: sending letters, postal packets and parcels.
The raising of the tariffs is being reconciled with the National Communications Regulatory Commission, Zayats added.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Ukrposhta ended 2009 with a profit of UAH 30.3 million, having increased net revenues by 17.6% or UAH 0.703 billion to UAH 4.7 billion.
It earned UAH 2.5 billion of net profit on provision of communication services.
Apart from communication services Ukrposhta provides a number of other services: financial (money transfers, delivery of pensions), advertising, internet access services, etc.
Ukrposhta monopolizes postal communication in Ukraine.
