The FINANCIAL — Popular bonus card in Georgia Unicard has already given out 39,525 prizes in the six months since its launch. With a total of more than 2,000 gifts to choose from catalogue is a wide variety of gifts including jewellery, clothes, health products, home appliances, travel, sport and fitness, books, alcoholic drinks and more.
The products most in demand among Unicard holders are Geocell services – from 15 points, a 10 litre Wissol fuel coupon from 146 points, table lamp – 122 points, kitchen knife set – 39 points, and books – from 40 points.
“The popularity of the Geocell gift is due to the fact it’s so easy to transfer points into services. There is a lot of demand for home accessories and different books including children’s books, translations and literature,” said Revaz Charkviani, Head of Marketing at Unicard.
“Gifts at Unicard are accessible from 15 points for cardholders. The availability of gifts is illustrated by the fact that in 6 months Unicard has already distributed 39,525 gifts. The daily order for gifts in September was 650 units, a slight increase compared to before September when only 215 gifts were being ordered daily,” added Charkviani.
The individual can freely accumulate points for gifts even within a week just by passing it to the cashier at checkout. Moreover, within a month the individual will likely have the opportunity to choose from a selection of low point gifts.
Unicard covers all sectors and spheres in the market, with more than 200 companies included in the network making it much easier to accumulate points.
“There are two categories of cardholders. The first category who prefer low-price gifts, accumulating points quickly and getting multiple low-point products. Considering their wishes Unicard has included low points gifts in its catalogue. And the second, who prefer to wait and accumulate points slowly for high-point gifts. Moreover, it should be mentioned that scores are never cancelled at Unicard. This is constant and points remain valid indefinitely. We believe demand for high-point gifts will increase slightly after the first year,” said Charkviani.
According to Charkviani cardholders have already ordered more than 100 high-point gifts, which means having over 500 points to afford a high-point present. Amongst the highest point gifts is a Samsung mobile – requiring 3,535 points.
The gifts at Unicard can be obtained in four ways: by delivery to home, at partners’ units, at services centres, and getting gifts instantly.
In October Unicard will be launching a new catalogue with more than 2,000 renewed presents at special prices.
For added convenience cardholders can access the Unicard web page which is updated daily. By just visiting www.unicard.ge the cardholder can become aware of newly added gifts as well as monitoring expenses, and getting detailed information about offers and accumulated points.
The number of Unicards issued in Georgia has reached 319,590 already in the 6 months of its operation on the Georgian market. From 319,590 clients in Tbilisi there are 291,444 cardholders while in Batumi there are 28,146.
Unicard is expanding its service chain and will soon be available in Kutaisi. “After its success in the region of Adjara the company decided to launch the card in Kutaisi in October” declared Charkviani.
“The majority of points are accumulated in consumer non-durable sectors including supermarkets, petrol stations and communications,” Charkviani added.
As well as accumulating points and getting prizes in return, Unicard has different offers as well as services for its customers.
“During the year we plan to conduct different activities with all companies so as to cover all segments and spheres. We will be conducting at least two activities per month,” said Charkviani.
“Since the launch of our card we have been constantly trying to have special offers in concrete segments. At present the hottest offer is with IKKS, the children’s clothing store. Those who purchase something at IKKS for the new season will get double points from Unicard as well as school things. During this period of offer transactions at IKKS have increased threefold,” Charkviani added.
The next activity Unicard plans to conduct is one concerning supermarkets, in October. If accumulating 5 points Unicard will be giving an additional 5 points as a gift in all supermarket chains as well as markets located in the districts which are working along with the Unicard programme.
“As the majority of scores are accumulated by non-durable products Unicard decided to switch different markets located in districts to the programme,” added Charkviani.
Moreover, by the arrival of the winter season Unicard plans to include some thematic and special presents in the catalogue.
“Unicard is offering a new service for cinema tickets as well. What makes ordering from points different from a reservation service is the convenience of picking up one’s ticket up to the start of the film, whereas for a reservation one needs to apply for one’s ticket at least half an hour before the start of the film,” declared Charkviani.
