The FINANCIAL — Unicard, the popular bonus card in Georgia, has opened universal service centres in Tbilisi and Kutaisi.
The new Tbilisi service centre will be serving customers daily, providing cards as well as information about ongoing activities and interesting news.
“The new service centre will provide a broader service including all transactions with the card, distribution and acquiring of additional cards as well as getting gifts directly from the centre,” said Ana Koshadze, Public Relations Manager at Unicard.
As well as the service centre Unicard operates seven service points. These are located in the Rutaveli and Amirani theatres, in the Ioli supermarket chain as well as in partner company’s stores.
“A universal service centre was also opened in Kutaisi approximately 2 weeks ago. Unicard has been operating in Kutaisi since October, with 80 service locations already available in the city,” declared Koshadze.
As Koshadze notes, 8-10 local companies have already joined the list of Unicard’s partners and there are ongoing negotiations with more than 25 local partners. The company plans to increase the number of locations in Kutaisi to 100 by the end of the year. This includes local as well as chain companies such as Geocell, Wissol, Aversi and GPC.
“The majority of local partners in Kutaisi are supermarkets, hotels, restaurant and gift shop chains,” said Koshadze.
Since the launch of the card in Kutaisi, the company has already distributed 14,000 cards, with a daily distribution rate of 1,200.
“Unicard has already become quite popular in Kutaisi. The 14,000 cards distributed in just one month for a small city such as that indicates the popularity of Unicard,” said Koshadze.
“The popularity of Unicard in Batumi governed the launch of the card in Kutaisi. Consequently the success of Kutaisi will lead to entering other cities in the country,” declared Koshadze.
The next destination for Unicard’s launch is Rustavi, at the beginning of November, and later other big cities throughout the country.
Unicard has two ongoing activities with supermarkets and Giordano shops at present.
The district activity, where approximately 70 shops have switched, gives the cardholder the opportunity to get 5 additional points for 5 accumulated points. The activity will be ongoing till 10 November.
At Giordano cardholders have the opportunity to get 10%, 15% and 20% discounts for products while at the same time getting double points for any money spent, which is 3 points for 10 GEL.
“We plan to periodically conduct activities with our partner companies which will be specially designed to cover concrete segments and spheres. By our activities we will switch companies in the same sector to satisfy the demand of all segments,” declared Koshadze.
Together with the activities and special prices Unicard is conducting a competition for media representatives. The title of the competition is Your Dream Card and the contest is absolutely free, leaving room for journalists’ imaginations.
“The competition will reveal the best media project concerning Unicard. The best media product could be a newspaper article, internet publication, TV or radio plot. The main requirement is to apply to the topic and then all journalists are welcome to take part in the competition,” said Koshadze.
The winner of the competition will be revealed on 26 December and the deadline for receiving competition material is 15 December.
The judge, after reviewing the journalists, will reveal the winners. The head judge will be Teona Dolidze.
The competition will reveal eight winners. The first place winner will get a prize of 1,500 GEL. Second place will be divided between three winners, each getting 1,000 GEL, and third place will reward four winners with 400 GEL each.
“The media competition started on 11 October. At present no one has yet presented a project. However, there have been many calls and questions concerning the competition and we know that many are working on a project to submit,” declared Koshadze.
The total amount of gifts distributed by Unicard has reached 60,000 as of October. In September alone the company distributed 20,000 gifts.
The gifts most demanded by cardholders are Geocell text messages, Wissol fuel coupons, home appliances, computer technology and cinema tickets. Moreover, demand has increased for high point gifts such as home cinemas and mobile phones.
“Unicard has been operating in the market for six months. Some cardholders have already accumulated high scores and so the demand for high point prizes is increasing,” said Koshadze.
The trend for most popular products has changed compared to the previous month, with only Geocell services and Wissol fuel coupons remaining the same.
Gifts at Unicard will be accessible from 12 points and up in the nearest future. With more than 2,000 gifts to choose from in the catalogue an individual can get gifts including jewellery, clothes, health products, travel, sport and fitness, books, home appliances, alcoholic drinks and more.
Unicard can be used in more than 900 locations, with 200 partner companies. Several companies have been added recently such as 807 and Mastersport. Moreover 08 will be added in the nearest future. However Goodwill and GMart have left the Unicard group of partner companies.
“We will substitute Goodwill with a new supermarket chain which will be opened in the nearest future. Due to this fact we have not yet switched to another supermarket chain,” said Koshadze.
“Every Friday on Rustavi 2’s morning programme we give 300 points to the first person to answer questions conducted live from our partner companies’ stores. Moreover, via Facebook Unicard is giving small points to the winners of small competitions,” declared Koshadze.
From Monday cardholders will have the opportunity to vote for GeoStar participants, with points being diminished from Unicard as a result; 4 points will be one message and 20 points – five messages.
