The FINANCIAL — UPS on April 29 announced its Near Real-Time Service Performance Reporting (NRT) solution ranked first on the 2015 InformationWeek Elite 100.
Initially launched in late 2014, the NRT Business Intelligence platform gathers and interprets thousands of package and transportation updates per second from multiple sources and provides an intuitive interactive view of the UPS network and overall service performance, according to UPS.
Exceeding the capabilities of a traditional package tracking and visibility platform, the NRT system is equipped with advanced predicative analytics that provides UPS operations with near real-time insights into package movement and service performance throughout the UPS global small package network.
“Handling more than 18 million average daily package deliveries, the additional insights the NRT solution provides extends UPS’s capabilities to predict a particular package that might have a service issue and allow our operations teams to leverage our considerable flexibility to intervene and provide on-time delivery,” said Dave Barnes, UPS chief information and global business officer. “This industry-first innovation has been a key enabler for enhancing overall service, performance and customer experience.”
