The FINANCIAL — Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Vakhtang Makharoblishvili held a meeting with Lithuanian Ambassador to Georgia Giedrius Puodžiūnas.
The sides highly appraised the close relations between Georgia and Lithuania including Lithuania’s assistance to Georgia within the Development Cooperation Programme and the importance of sharing Lithuania’s experience in the implementation of the Association Agreement, according to MFA of Georgia.
The Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister welcomed the fact Georgia holds regular consultations with Lithuania within the framework of the European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Charter. The Georgian side expressed the readiness to host the next meeting of the Georgia-Lithuania Commission on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration in Tbilisi, in 2017.
Discussions during the meeting focused on co-operation between the countries at the parliamentary level. Vakhtang Makharoblishvili welcomed the upcoming visit of the newly-elected speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Viktoras Pranckietis due to arrive in Tbilisi in March of 2017, in team with the speakers of the NB8 member countries.
The Lithuanian Ambassador reaffirmed Lithuania’s firm support for Georgia’s integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic structures and pledged that Lithuania will continue to assist Georgia and share its experience with the country in various areas.
