The FINANCIAL — In November 2015, the number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport increased by 2.9% to a total of 1,668,865. Local passenger volume was also up in the same period, rising by 3.9%, in contrast to a 0.1% drop in the number of transfer passengers at Vienna Airport in November 2015 from the comparable level in November 2014.
The number of flight movements decreased by 2.7%, whereas the maximum take-off weight showed a slightly positive development, increasing by 0.2%. In November 2015 air cargo was down by 7.9% year-on-year. On balance, total passenger volume in the period January to November 2015 climbed 1.5% from the prior-year level, according to Vienna Airport.
The number of passengers flying to Western Europe rose by 5.1% in November 2015, whereas passenger volume to Eastern Europe declined by 4.0%. The Middle East region showed a drop of 0.5% in November 2015, in contrast to the 0.2% increase in the number of passengers flying to the Far East. Passenger volume to North American destinations was up 5.1% in November 2015, whereas the number of passengers to Africa was down 7.3% from the previous year.
The strategic foreign investments of the Flughafen Wien Group developed well. The number of passengers handled by Kosice Airport rose 13.4% in the period January to November 2015 to a total of 384,727 passengers. Malta Airport registered 7.6% growth in passenger volume from January to November 2015 to 4,371,172 passengers.
