The FINANCIAL — The event was held within the framework of the Human Dimension Implementation Meeting (HDIM). Georgian speakers: the head of the Human Rights Secretariat of the Administration of the Government of Georgia Natalia Jaliashvili and Levan Meskhoradze, a representative of the Public Defender’s Office submitted their presentations providing the attending audience detailed information on the situation of the conflict-affected population and problems relating to access of international monitoring organizations to the occupied territories. The speakers highlighted human rights violations of ethnic Georgians in the occupied territories, including murder cases of Georgian citizens: Archil Tatunashvili, Giga Otkhozoria and Davit Basharuli. The need to bring to justice the perpetrators of these crimes was also highlighted. Special accent was placed on the liability of the Russian Federation, as an occupant country and a party exercising effective control, as well as on the need to create international human rights monitoring mechanisms on the ground. An event held in parallel of the meeting organized by the Georgian side was co-sponsored by the permanent representatives of Great Britain, U.S., Canada, Sweden, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Estonia and Poland. The annual meeting of the Human Dimension Implementation Meeting (HDIM) is held from 10 to 21 September and is attended by representatives of the OSCE delegations, civil sector, OSCE institutions and executive authorities.
