The FINANCIAL — “We believe that this day made us all together and the organization strong and capable to move forward with all the reforms we need in our countries to travel, enjoy and respect. I thank everyone for making it happen” – The Georgian Vice Premier, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze participates in the official opening of the 22nd General Assembly of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) held in Chengdu, China from 12 to 15 September 2017.
Mikheil Janelidze described as historical the decision to appoint Georgia’s candidate to such high position at the international organization. He underlined that Georgia remains committed to the mission and principles of this organization and is well aware that respect of international rules and obligations is a key for the success of every country, nation and every citizen.
According to the Minister, the Organization must serve the interest of every region, every group of countries and every member of the Organization. “We are all united for the success of the UNWTO” – Mikheil Janelidze said.
Zurab Pololikashvili was elected by the UNWTO General Assembly within its 22nd session taking place in Chengdu, China, from September 12 to September 15, according to MFA of Georgia.
This is the first time ever that a Georgian candidate has been appointed to such a high-ranking post at the international organization.
