The FINANCIAL — WestJet on June 15 announced it has signed a firm order for five Bombardier Q400 NextGen aircraft.
A firm order for one Q400 aircraft was also signed in March 2015. These transactions are conversions of options previously booked by WestJet. The five firm orders are for delivery in 2016 and 2017, according to WestJet.
“In just 24 months we have successfully built a coast-to-coast airline that is connecting more and more Canadians to the WestJet network,” said Ferio Pugliese, President, WestJet Encore.
“Building WestJet Encore into a national airline is an important component of our strategic plan,” continued Ferio Pugliese. “We are delighted with the success of our airline and I commend our WestJetters for their hard work and dedication in growing our airline from three aircraft in B.C and Alberta to the 21 we have today operating right across Canada.”
New WestJet Encore routes launched earlier this year include: Edmonton-Kamloops, Toronto-Québec City, Toronto-Fredericton and Halifax-Sydney.
