The FINANCIAL — WestJet on May 5 announced April 2015 traffic results with a load factor of 80.2 per cent.
Revenue passenger miles (RPMs), or traffic, increased 3.1 per cent year-over-year, and capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASMs), grew 5.8 per cent over the same period. The airline flew 1.7 million guests in April, a year-over-year increase of 1.6 per cent or approximately 27,000 additional guests, and achieved an on-time performance rate of 91.2 per cent, a year-over-year improvement of 8.5 percentage points, according to WestJet.
“We are pleased with our continued traffic growth as we welcomed a record number of guests on board in April even as Easter shifted to overlap spring break this year, creating one holiday period as compared to two in 2014,” said WestJet President and CEO Gregg Saretsky. “We continued to improve our operational efficiency in April and I want to thank our more than 10,000 WestJetters for their dedication to safely performing on time.”
