The FINANCIAL — In the current year Ukraine will produce 19.1 mln tonnes of wheat, an increase of 13.7% compared to the last year, forecasted the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on July 1.
According to the Ministry data, at the same time the general production of barley is expected to decrease by 3.2% compared to the last year results – 8.2 mln tonnes.
At the same time, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy notes the production volumes of both wheat and barley will increase the domestic demand, which is estimated at the level of 11.2 mln tonnes and 6.2 mln tonnes per year, respectively.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy also forecasts that Ukraine in 2011 will produce nearly 0.3 mln tonnes of buckwheat, up 0.16 mln tonnes compared to 2010, with the domestic demand of 160-170 thsd tonnes per year.
Generally, according to estimations of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in 2011 the average grain production in the country will total 45 mln tonnes against 39.2 mln tonnes last year.
