The FINANCIAL — Wissol together with Mobi Pay will be offering an innovative payment system, the purchase of Wissol products by mobile account, from the New Year.
“Wissol is an innovator in oil products and constantly strives for the perfection of customer service. The Mobi Pay system will be quite convenient and easy to use for clients. The purchase of fuel by mobile will be available in Tbilisi and later in the whole of Georgia,” said Samson Pkhakadze, head of Wissol Board of Directors.
“The project is quite important. Today we have different types of payment systems at Wissol. The new system will create additional comfort for clients,” Pkhakadze added.
The main idea of Mobi Pay is that any payment can be conducted by mobile phone. The only thing required by the individual is to become registered in the system and get an identification number. At first the service will be available for Geocell clients only. However later the company plans to cover other mobile operators in Georgia too.
“Wissol is an innovative company and we are constantly implementing new technologies. The project with Mobi Pay is of vital importance for us as we are offering an innovative service of payment by mobile phone at petrol stations. Wissol is client-oriented, consequently we would like to provide all kinds of comfort for them,” said Tornike Guruli, Marketing Director at Wissol.
Innovation and creative thinking are the major assets of Wissol. All the new products and services in the Georgian oil sector are pioneered by Wissol. In 2001 the company introduced the Wissol Card, a type of chip-based card for its corporate clients new to the Georgian market. From May 2009 Wissol has offered the unique GoLive fleet management satellite system, again a first in Georgia, to its corporate clients. On 1 October 2007, Wissol pioneered a cumulative discount card – the PIRVELI Card, which offers special loyalty schemes for the individual clients.
With Mobi Pay your mobile phone becomes like your wallet, conducting all transactions, paying in different locations, to different merchants and even paying utility bills.
“The advantages for the consumer are very clear: convenience, low cost, speed and value. It is very convenient to choose Mobi Pay to pay bills or merchants. This is much faster than other methods; the individual does not have to stand in line,” said Allen Gilstrap, CEO and Company Director of Mobi Pay.
“Moreover, from a safety perspective this is more secure than using a credit card, and from a value perspective every time consumers use Mobi Pay in Georgia they get something extra from the merchants. There will be merchant offers, bonuses, and discounts. So, there will be great value in using Mobi Pay rather than cash,” added Gilstrap.
As Gilstrap told The FINANCIAL, the objective of Mobi Pay is to have almost all merchants accept Mobi Pay. Together with Wissol, many different companies will join the scheme, including restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, chemists. At present there are already 500 companies involved in the scheme.
“We actually looked at 54 countries around the world to determine the best markets for mobile financial services, and out of 54 countries in the world Georgia ranked number 2. After further studies we decided Georgia was the best locations to choose for this business, and we would like to support 13 other countries that are close to Georgia, so this will be the regional hub for the Mobi Pay Network in Georgia based in Tbilisi,” declared Gilstrap.
“There have been multimillion USD investments up to this point and multimillion USD investments will continue for years to come. We made a long term commitment to Georgia, as we will be running operations for 15 other countries out of Tbilisi as well,” added Gilstrap.
“Georgia has one of the best mobile telecommunication networks in the world. Mobile network operator services in Georgia are better than in the US, and we think that when you combine the excellence of mobile telecommunication with the very pro-business government approach for encouragement of foreign direct investment, this is a wonderful place for business and we believe Georgia will be attractive for other businesses as well,” Gilstrap declared.
