The FINANCIAL — Wizz Air announced on November 28 three new routes from Suceava International Airport to Italy.
The new flights to Treviso, Bologna and Rome Ciampino will start on the 27th and 28th March 2017. Bologna and Rome services will be operated with three weekly frequencies on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while the Treviso route will have two weekly flights on Mondays and Fridays. Tickets are already available and can be booked on wizzair.com from 109 RON, according to Wizz Air.
WIZZ started operating low fares flights from Suceava in August, first launching the London Luton service that was shortly followed by a route to Milan. Today’s announcement increases the number of WIZZ services from Suceava to five routes to two countries: Italy and the UK.
Romania is a key market for Wizz Air and the WIZZ presence has grown significantly since the launch of Romanian operations in 2007. Wizz Air is already the largest airline in Romania and will further grow its young fleet to 20 aircraft by the end of 2016, including 4 of the ultra-efficient brand new 230-seat Airbus A321, which will offer even more affordable travel opportunities for Romanian customers and their visitors. WIZZ currently offers 129 routes to 54 destinations from 10 Romanian airports. WIZZ’s Romanian operations not only provides affordable access to WIZZ’s lowest fares between Romania and the rest of Europe, but also stimulates the local job market in aviation and tourism sectors. Over 600 Wizz Air colleagues currently work in Romania, looking forward to welcoming passengers on board WIZZ’s Romanian flights, which this year will support more than 3,300** jobs in associated industries throughout the country.
Throughout 2016 and early 2017 WIZZ has already announced and will start 35 new routes connecting Romania with the rest of Europe, including WIZZ’s first internal route connecting Bucharest with Cluj-Napoca which starts a new era in domestic Romanian air travel. Over the past 12 months ending 31 October 2016 Wizz Air carried more than 5.3 million passengers to and from Romania.
