The FINANCIAL — Wizz Air on August 3 started operations from Budapest to the popular summer destination of Varna located on the Bulgarian seaside.
The maiden flight departed shortly before noon with 156 passengers on board. The newest summer route will be operating until 18 September with two weekly frequencies, on Wednesdays and Sundays, according to Wizz Air.
Varna is the largest city and the most interesting, cosmopolitan seaside resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. Its magical atmosphere derives from the combination of a major tourist destination, a business hub and university center, a seaport and the headquarters of the Bulgarian Navy and merchant marine. The area has a rich selection to offer for both sea-lovers, as well as sightseeing tourists with its lengthy beach to lounge on, the enormous and beautiful Seaside Garden to amble round, the historical places and the finest archaeological museums to discover the Bulgarian culture. Besides Bulgaria’s largest Roman baths complex can be found in the city center, the town is also famous for the oldest gold jewelry in the world, belonging to the Varna culture, that was discovered in the Varna Necropolis and dates to 4200-4600 BC.
Wizz Air connects Hungary with Bulgaria by three routes from Budapest to Bourgas, Varna as well as Sofia service that will commence on 1 November. WIZZ offers a total of 56 routes to 22 countries from two Hungarian airports: Budapest and Debrecen.
